Opening Keynote

Experiences…. Overshadowing Your Potential or A Catalyst for Your Growth? You Decide

Personal and professional experiences shape the way we view the world, approach our work, and interact with others. Studies have shown that career development is strongly linked to experiential factors. This presentation will explore at a high level, how childhood, cultural and societal experiences along with setbacks and successes influence your decision making, impact your leadership style and drive your career trajectory. Objective vs. subjective experiences will be defined.

Closing Keynote Speaker

Edmund Tori, DO, FACP, CHT

Dr. Ed Tori is the Director of the Influence Center at one of the largest health systems on the East Coast. He assists associates with learning the science of persuasion for better communication, improved care delivery, and behavior change. He speaks on influence and persuasion across industries - anywhere people are doing good in the world.

Dr. Tori has a unique ability to speak about something we are all familiar with, influence and persuasion, but don’t necessarily know how to recognize or use in our work and home environments to improve engagement, build relationships, and impact measurable outcomes. His sense of humor, use of real-world experience, and deep clinical background create a learning opportunity for his audiences that is unlike anything else they have experienced. Audiences engage, laugh, and learn and leave his presentations with concrete actionable takeaways.

Dr. Tori is currently an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He previously served as a hospitalist and as the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Step-Down Unit at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD where he was responsible for running peri-operative cardiac services.

Ed completed his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by a residency in internal medicine at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital where he was both Chief Resident and Resident of the Year. Dr. Tori is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies from Cornell University.
