The Nursing Foundation of Maryland, Inc. is looking for volunteer trustees

The Nursing Foundation of Maryland, Inc. (NFM) is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation that operates as the fundraising arm of the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA), the only state-wide, non-profit, multipurpose professional membership organization representing the interests of more than 70,000 Registered Nurses in Maryland.
The mission of the NFM is to promote the advancement of the profession of nursing through the financial support of education and research.
NFM is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals with a passion for nursing. Experience in fundraising, grant writing, program development, and being a trustee on a non-profit board is desirable, but not required.  
Candidates for appointment shall have demonstrated commitment to the advancement of nursing, the improvement of the healthcare of Maryland residents, or otherwise, foster the purposes of the Foundation.  Any Registered Nurse appointed as a Trustee of the Foundation shall be and remain a member of the MNA while a Trustee.  The Trustees shall vote on the appointment of each candidate with the majority vote. 
 
As the leadership body of the Nursing Foundation of Maryland and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the Board of Trustees is responsible for:
  • Determining the mission and purposes of the foundation.
  • Developing and implementing the Strategic Plan.
  • Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management.
  • Fundraising and resource development.
  • Approving, monitoring, and implementing the foundation’s programs and services.
  • Enhancing the foundation’s public image.
  • Assessing own performance as the governing body of the foundation.
Each individual Trustee is expected to:
  • Understand the NFM’s mission, bylaws, programs, and needs.
  • Actively participate in the NFM board meetings and correspondence.
  • Fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources, connections, and partnerships necessary to achieve the NFM’s mission.

Appointment to the Board shall be for a term of four (4) years. No appointee shall serve more than two (2) consecutive terms.
