Call for MNA Board of Directors Vice President Candidates

Greetings members, please see the below message sent on behalf of MNA President Christie Simon-Waterman:   

   

I. Appointment of MNA Vice-President by the 2022 - 2023 MNA BOD Members:   

Whenever there is a vacancy on the MNA BOD, the position must be filled by appointment except for the President IAW the MNA Bylaws. Because the Vice-President position has been vacated by the election of Dr. Melani Bell to President-Elect, the MNA BOD must fill the vacancy according to the NOV 2018 MNA Bylaws and the MNA Policy 4 - 7 - 0001 (MAR 2021). 

    

1) The Vice -President position is now vacant and MNA is seeking candidates for consideration by the MNA BOD for appointment to complete the remainder of the term. This is an appointment which will commence following the MNA BOD appointment of the MNA VP scheduled to occur on March 16, 2023, and will conclude the day BEFORE the first MNA BOD meeting in 2023 AFTER the MNA annual membership meeting. MNA members must have been active in a leadership role (BOD or Committee) at the District or State level for the past 3 years to be a candidate.    

 

2) The responsibilities for the Vice President is addressed in the NOV 2018 MNA Bylaws and the Standing Rules for the MNA Board of Directors, MNA Policy 4- 0001- March 17, 2022. Both documents are attached and the sections addressing responsibilities are highlighted.   

 

3) Please send complete candidate packages for the Vice President (VP) position to your District President NLT Wednesday, February 15, 2023. All candidates must:   

   

  • have been active in a leadership role (BOD or Committee) at the District or State level for the past 3 years; those leadership roles must be listed on the consent to serve form;   
  • submit a MNA Consent to Serve Form (attached); and    
  • submit an essay of a maximum of 200 words stating why they are interested in serving and their qualifications for the position.     

Candidate materials must be received by your District President by NLT February 15, 2023. The District President will then forward your complete candidate package to the MNA CSO and MNA CON Chair who have a responsibility to vet each candidate prior to submitting the candidate information to the MNA BOD members before the March 16, 2023, MNA BOD meeting.  

   

4) At the next MNA BOD meeting there will be a discussion about each of the potential candidates for the vacant VP position, assuming there are two or more candidates for the position. At the completion of the discussion, there will be a roll call vote for each of the candidates being considered for appointment; BOD members can only vote once. The candidate receiving the most votes from the MNA BOD members present will be the MNA member appointed to complete the remainder of the Vice President's term.
