2024 MNA Nurses' Week Celebration and Recognition Awards

As part of MNA’s celebration of Nurses Week, MNA will be honoring up to seven MNA members with awards at the MNA Second Annual Gala on May 5, 2024, at the Center Club in Baltimore. MNA members are encouraged to nominate their MNA colleagues for an award.
The 2024 MNA Nursing Celebration Month Awards
The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to express our gratitude and recognize an individual who has created a legacy that sustained and shaped the heritage of nursing. This individual’s values and culture are consistent with those of MNA.
Selection Criteria for this award includes:
- A distinguished career as a nurse who promotes a positive image of professional nursing;
- Evidence of active engagement in the professional development of self and others in nursing;
- A role model and advocate for nursing practice and the advancement of nursing as a professional;
- An advocate for the improvement of patient care;
- An exemplar for enhancing the patient experience; and,
- Recognized by the broader nursing community as a transformational nursing leader.
The MNA Hall of Fame recognizes an MNA member who has demonstrated extraordinary contributions to the nursing profession over a sustained period through distinguished service, steadfast leadership, exceptional mentorship, effective advocacy, and innovative efforts that have had an enduring impact on the health and/or social/political history of the State of Maryland.
The Champion of Nursing Award recognizes an MNA member who has demonstrated a commitment to MNA’s mission through distinguished service and valuable assistance to the nursing profession, as well as recognition of and support for registered nurses.
The Nursing Education Award recognizes an MNA member for outstanding accomplishments in the area of education for the nursing profession and MNA. The recipient is making significant contributions through education, professional, and/or social advocacy on behalf of individual registered nurses, the nursing profession, and/or MNA.
The Leadership in Ethics Award recognizes an MNA member who demonstrates the highest standards of ethics and leadership in his/her daily practice, serves as an ethical role model, and promotes ethical dialogue and/or scholarship.
The Public Health Service Award recognizes an MNA member for exceptional leadership and outstanding professional contributions to shaping the role and advancing public health nursing practice. This individual dedicates their career to promoting and protecting the health of people and communities in her role as a public health nurse.
The Shirley Nathan-Pulliam Award recognizes an MNA member who demonstrates excellence and the highest level of dedication to their profession.
This individual provides outstanding service, leadership, communication, training, and practice skills paired with creativity, empathy, and commitment. The individual is committed to nursing workplace excellence, developing a shared governance structure and professional practice model, and is an advocate for sharing best practices with others.
